OA Day 2016
The inclement weather was no deterrent to over a hundred guests who returned to Aldenham for OA Day and the Beevor's Gaudy reunion on Sunday 12th June 2016.
The Housemaster of Beevor’s, Sam Pennycook (CR2009-Present), opened up the House for the morning and current students invited OAs to look around. With plenty of memorabilia on show everyone enjoyed sharing stories of their schooldays.
A traditional Chapel service was followed by drinks in the Apthorp Room in The Wells Centre, which was opened in 2012. Many people remembered the Tuck Shop and School Shop, which has been tastefully renovated and extended to form The Wells Centre. The newest building in the School incorporates a Sixth Form Centre, classrooms and this wonderful upstairs meeting room with an exceptional view over Top Field.
Sadly the John Dewes cricket match was rained off, but as a regular fixture will be played again next in memory of John Dewes (B1940-45) who died in 2015.
Lunch was served as a picnic style, to reflect the Patron’s Lunch in The Mall for the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations on the same day. The warmth of the smiles in the Dining Hall brought out the sunshine in the afternoon.
