OAFC - Kick off the 2020 season with a win
29 September 2020
The Old Aldenhamian Football Club kicked off with a win in their first game of the 2020 season against the ‘old boys’ of Charterhouse. Despite the COVID 19 pandemic, which forced everyone into a lockdown situation, the Club had managed to play all their matches last year and enjoyed some success, with lots of keen, young players joining from the School and returning from universities across the country. A great way to keep up their skills and Aldenham friendships.OAFC is a sports and social club for boys who have studied and now left Aldenham School. The Club plays in the highly competitive Arthurian League and Arthur Dunn Cup, as well as entering various other London cups, ranging from the AFA Cup to the London Old Boys cup. The Club currently runs 2 teams, a first team and a Vets team, so players of all ages are welcome. The Club is very privileged to be able to call Aldenham School their home ground and have 2 very well-maintained pitches and facilities to be proud of.The Club has won many accolades since its inception in 1905, including the Arthur Dunn Cup, The Arthurian League and, more recently, the London Old Boys Cup.Training occurs in midweek, once a week at Aldenham and matches are on Saturdays.More recently, the Club has got stronger with players ranging from those who have just left the School to players who have close on 500 OAFC caps to their name. While the squad is a good cross section of ages, the players all mix together socially, as is part of the core of all Old Aldenhamians and the majority of the squad are often seen having post-match tea at either the 3 Compasses or 3 Horseshoes after home games. This season (2020-2021) started very well with a 1-0 win against last season's Division champions, Old Carthusians and the goal is to win silverware this season. If you are interested in joining the club for either social, fitness or to play in matches, please contact Nick Baker on 07876 567798.Feel free to search the picture Gallery (below) and if you recognise any former school mates, please do ask them about the club.
